There is Hope on the Other Side of Grief: You Can Live Again
By Shayna Acree
Introduction:
Surrendering was the first step towards healing. Grieving in this capacity was new for me; I did not understand it, and applying my human rationale proved unsuccessful. It was time to do something different, something new. After all, when your life changes so dramatically and so tragically, it’s time to go outside of the norm and begin to venture to the new normal.
As I wrote this book, tears began to stream down my face. It was challenging to write out the many details, but I knew it was time for our story to be told. The mission of this book is to give you hope. Whether you have lost your child, parent, marriage, or job, I want you to know that you can recover from the loss. It won’t be an easy journey, but with resilience, patience, and grace, you will begin to live again.
Everyone will experience some level of loss, so instead of viewing grief as the big bad wolf that will go away if we ignore it, let’s face it. By ignoring it, it will always find its way back to you and cause even more turmoil in your life. I also want to share that you are not alone. My struggles through the various stages of grief are all laid out on these pages and are not pretty. However, let me tell you that I am so joyful that I decided to take this journey.
As scared as I was, I kept walking. Even today, I still struggle from time to time; there are random days where I’m just incredibly sad, heartbroken, and can cry for hours. I still cry because I know that part of me is gone; a child is missing from the dining room table.
When I feel those moments of sadness and grief, I always stand in my faith and on the word of God. I don’t have Amyia on this side of eternity, and that’s heartbreaking, but I have a high priest who understands. Yes, and Amen! When you begin to move through your grief, you will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel and that there’s hope on the other side.
I hope this book empowers you to process your pain and express your emotions. Your strength to come through to the other side will give you the knowledge and courage to help someone else. I pray this book helps you find peace. I pray that from my story, you will find that healing is possible.
